Late 2019 the College of Psychic Studies and I set about creating a new trance cabinet. The previous one was made for Robin Winbow (my teacher) over 25 years ago or more and was not in good shape. The College and I had spoken about making one for several years, and finally, all the pieces fell into place for it to happen.
I knew that Robin had always wanted the cabinet to be larger, and from having worked in it for years, I was aware of some of the downfalls in the design. Gill (the College principle) and I met the carpenter, and we talked through what I wanted. After an hour with a tape measure and sketches, we agreed on a design.
A trance cabinet used for physical phenomena would be set up in a room and never (or hardly ever) moved. As the College is a teaching venue and all the rooms get used for multiple courses our cabinet can not stay in situ.
We waited for several weeks, and at the beginning of December, the cabinet got delivered. I know Im biased, but it is a thing of beauty. Solid wood, all black and comes apart into four pieces (necessary for storage). My heartfelt thanks to Peregrine who built it, he is a superb carpenter.
At the Colleges Christmas party I was surprised by how many people came to talk to me about the new cabinet it had created a bit of a buzz. Also a long list of volunteers willing to sit in it. Well, for now, they will have to wait. I get the first go.
Ill keep you updated.
