During this time of uncertainty, constant change, fear and panic, it's crucial to not reflect on the negative but the positive, the wonderful and, the amazing that is around you every day.
With that in mind I sat and considered what am I grateful for -
I'm grateful that my mother and I are healthy and well and that we have each other. I know I would be much more stressed if we lived apart and she was on her own. In truth, I am grateful that I do not live alone.
I am grateful for our next-door neighbour dropped by last week to ensure we have his mobile number in case we needed anything. He made a comment that I think was a keen observation; he said: 'don't be too proud to ask for help'. How true is that, often, pride stops us from reaching out or asking for help. What a wonderful lesson that is for all of us, to allow support, to let people in to help.
I'm grateful for my garden. I am not the worlds best gardener, but there are a few plants that are green and flowering. Over the next weeks or months of isolating, I know that I can go out there. I can enjoy the sunshine and the fresh air and, perhaps in the Spirit of days gone by, have a conversation with a neighbour over the garden fence.
I am grateful for modern-day technology and the wonder of the Internet. I've been self-employed for 16 years, working from home. Over that time, I have adapted my work to be online. Trying out new technologies as they appeared. I know I can deliver Master Chou's wisdom and teachings through Skype and FaceTime and over the coming months, perhaps even video.
I am grateful for my friends and family who have been in touch to ensure that we are okay. One of my friends even sent me a birthday card three weeks early to ensure that I had it to open on the day. I thought this was a lovely idea. Hence, I've sent out cards to my friends who's birthdays happen over the next few months. I hope the little packages will bring them some joy and let them know they remembered and in my thoughts.
Lastly but not least, I am grateful for Spirit, my constant companions, my friends and, my source of support and peace. You have guides and helpers, and loved ones in Spirit, all there to lean on. They may not be able to change what is going on in the world they can help you improve how you are reacting, they can help you deal with the stress and the worry. And most importantly, they can help you with inspiration and creativity for how to adapt and grow over the coming months. You need only ask for their help and allow them.
