Sleep - a gift for your well-being by Master Chou

Sleep - a gift for your well-being

Winter draws closer, and the darker nights have arrived, casting a greater shadow over the land. Worry not; darkness is not always about the negative; it is often about rest and sleep. Go to bed with the sun, rise with the sun - that was the way of your ancestors. They did not fear the dark as much as humanity does today because they understood the seasons, the cycles and the need for rest.

Too many of you spend your precious time in front of screens, with light pouring into your eyes when you should be dimming the lights and getting ready for bed. Sleep is a vital and often overlooked as part of your health regime. The body does much of its healing and renewal while you are asleep. Wakefulness is not always helpful. Let your body and mind sleep; let it rejuvenate.

Sleep is a great remedy for physical stress and helps to elevate mental stress as well - it is not a cure, nor will it fix everything overnight. But sleep should be considered part of your wellness plan, part of your pursuit of well-being and serenity.

The dark days are here; enjoy them, go to bed earlier and let the dark wrap around you like a warm blanket. Gently keeping the world at bay for a little while whilst you sleep more deeply. Mother Nature knows this; she slumbers in the winter, so she is ready for spring.

Give yourself the gift of sleep this Christmas; your body will thank you for it.

Blessings
